Virology Research Services (VRS) is a specialist contract research organisation (CRO) providing virology research and laboratory services to biotechnology, pharmaceutical and life science companies worldwide.
Based in Southeast England, we operate our own purpose-built BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratories, giving us the flexibility to work with a wide range of viruses and to support projects from early-stage research through to more complex antiviral, virucidal, and virus–host interaction studies.
Our work combines virology, molecular and cell biology expertise with a practical approach to experimental design. We develop and optimise assays, adapt existing methods to specific research questions, and work closely with our clients to generate robust, meaningful data.
As an independent CRO, we are able to be flexible in the way we work. Projects do not always fit neatly into a standard protocol, and we are comfortable tackling unusual targets, challenging assays, and questions that require a more tailored approach.
Today, our team works with companies of all sizes, from emerging biotech to established international organisations, across the UK, US, Europe, and beyond.

Free consultation
When you contact us, a senior scientist will discuss your request with you, advise on the best assays, and design an experimental plan upfront at no cost.
All raw data + full professional report
We will provide you not only with the original raw data in widely compatible file formats, but also with a complete report including experimental details, data analysis, and summary, all ready for presentation or publication.
Bespoke requests welcomed
We love our standard assays, but we also welcome any bespoke request: we are happy to set up and optimise new protocols to meet your needs. We also value flexibility, and we can work in smaller modules to make sure that the next experiment will be the most suitable.
Strict internal controls
All our assays are internally controlled to allow us to assess whether the experiment has worked according to our standards. If we are not happy with the results, we will repeat the assay for free.
Fast delivery
We do our best to deliver your results as soon as we can, keeping you informed on the process. But if you are in a rush, let us know and we will try our best to get your data even quicker.
