VRS started with two scientists, two different areas of expertise, and a shared interest in solving difficult scientific problems.

The story began in 2017 at University College London (UCL), with a virologist and a molecular cell biologist. Our different scientific backgrounds became one of our strengths, allowing us to approach problems from different angles and find practical answers to difficult questions.

While still at UCL, we were approached by companies looking for specialist virology knowledge, facilities, and hands-on laboratory expertise. Through the UCL consultancy scheme, we began working with them, designing experiments, troubleshooting assays, and helping them test hypotheses.

A year later, we incorporated Virology Research Services Ltd.

Since then, VRS has grown into a team of talented scientists, bringing together different expertise, experience, and ways of thinking. Our client base has grown too, and today we work internationally with companies of all sizes, with many of our clients based in the US, Europe, and all continents.

VRS has changed a lot since 2017, but the principles that guide us remain the same: do rigorous science, stay curious, and approach every project with the same commitment.
We have more capabilities, more experience, and a much bigger laboratory. But at heart, we are still scientists helping other scientists solve problems.
